
New Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac has spoken out after his first defeat in charge of the team, losing at home to Stuttgart.

Stuttgart took the lead 2-0 through an own goal from Valdemar Anton and a Jeff Chabot, while Dortmund pulled one back through Julian Brandt, with Julian Ryerson sent off late on.
Kovac said after his first match in charge: “The players gave it their all, 100 percent until the last minute, just like the substitutes.”
“The result is the only thing I don’t like. The rest is okay. We shouldn’t have ended up losing the game.”
“The team does a lot of things, both on the ball and off it, but we don’t always make the right decisions in the opponent’s penalty area.”
